The Prodigy – Invaders Must Die

Yesterday The Prodigy released their new single, Invaders Must Die, which will be the opening track of an album by the same name to be released March 2nd. Personally I love the new track. It’s fresh and fun to listen to. However, most “hardcore” fans are pretty disappointed.

You can download the track for free from the download page in the next 6 days or listen to it right here (quality and loud headphones/speakers recommended.)

The Prodigy “Invaders Must Die” New Album And UK Tour

Yesterday night Liam Howlett, the mastermind behind The Prodigy, announced that the band’s 5th studio album will be named “Invaders Must Die” and will be released March 2nd. Additionally, an “Invaders Must Die” UK tour dates have been announced.

By pure magical coincidence, the tour dates overlap the dates I plan to be in the UK in my upcoming 3 months trip, which I haven’t mentioned so far on this blog, but I will.

The UK tour has 9 dates:
April
5th – Cardiff International Arena
6th – Newcastle Metro Radio Arena
7th – Glasgow SECC
9th – Birmingham NIA
10th – Manchester MEN Arena
11th – Nottingham Trent FM Arena
13th – Sheffield Arena
14th – Brighton Centre
17th – London Wembley Arena

If you’re interested, you can see the locations on this map.

I will attend the shows on the 5th, 9th, 14th and 17th. If you’re looking for tickets you can get them in the next 2 days before they are in major box offices in The Prodigy’s Tickets online store (the link was sent to fans registered to The Prodigy’s website.)

Cypress Hill In Israel: 10 Years Too Late. Still Rock

Yesterday I went to see Cypress Hill, the rap band I really liked 10 years ago and the one that is responsible for my Internet nickname. While rap is not the kind of music I listen to anymore, the show itself was great – these guys can really make a crowd jump up and down with their selection of hits from the 17 years they’ve been around.

I’m glad I went to see Cypress Hill live. I’m only sorry they didn’t come 10 years ago. Considering that I didn’t know the new songs and that I forgot most of the lyrics of the old songs, I probably would have enjoyed the show much more. Going to see them yesterday was like going to see really really good live rap. It was loads of fun.

The Prodigy – New Website, Hopefully New Album Soon

This is going to be a great year music-wise for me. The Prodigy have revamped their website, preparing for the new album that is hopefully coming out this year (after waiting 7 years waiting for “Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned” anything can happen.) nekosite, the no. 1 Prodigy fan site has also gone through remodeling and the new design looks great. This is also a good sign for fans like me.

This time I decided not to download any illegal material related to the new album. Last time it kind of ruined the experience of the first listen. I’m going to even try and not listen to official singles, but I doubt that will hold.

The Prodigy New Album MySpace Website and Blog

The Prodigy’s next album (the fifth, not counting Their Law, which was a singles compilation) is in the making and The Prodigy are now updating their MySpace page. The background says “THE SUPREME EXCITEMENT OF OUR TIME” and the picture in it is also cool. Also check out the special remakes and remixes of their songs in the player on that page.

Liam Howlett says the album is on the way, but considering the 7 years wait between albums 3 and 4, it’s understandable if many fans are skeptical. I decided this time that I won’t try to download unofficial new album material because I feel that last time it ruined the “first time listening” experience. I might even try not to listen to new (official) album singles so that the entire album will be new for me. I can’t promise that, though – it might be too tempting :)

New Music I’m Exploring

I’ve been trying to find something new to listen to. Luckily, two Prodigy “spin-offs” are about to become available, so they automatically make good candidates:

  • Leeroy Thornhill, previously a dancer for The Prodigy (he could really dance, this guy) now calls himself Electric Tastebuds. He has very cool sounding electronic mixes with vocals (on some), which you can listen to on his MySpace website.
  • Jim Davies, who played the live guitar for The Prodigy, has his own band now, called Victory Pill. They just released their first video, Worst Case Scenario, which sounds very promising.
