I always said that, even though I’m available on my mobile phone and online most of the day, I don’t feel obligated to answer any calls or messages I get. But in effect I’ve always been online and available. Following some of the recent events in my life I’ve decided to be less online. It doesn’t mean that I’ll spend less time on the computer. It just means that I won’t be so available for IMs as much as I used to be.
I will still check my emails and be available on the phone. Considering that my online friends already were well-mannered, I don’t know how much effect this will have on my life. But it’s worth the experiment.
ping
:) I still get email notifications for comments in the blog, so… pong
hmmm, 6 minutes for a ping reply….
Hehe… that’s not fair… the computer on which I get notifications is not the same one I’m working on. Also, I’m not always in my cubicle to see the notifications. 6 minutes is actually fanatic :)
I wondered why are you offline all the day, but i assumed you are just busy :)
I hate using IM – prefer email or phone if faster sorting out is needed, because:
I type slow and hate my grammar mistakes.
Messages get overlapped.
The worse is that It throws you out of focus and knocks your concentration away.
What can I say, I’m a סוציומט :)
Wish you a good offline going…
rom: Well, now you know most why I’m offline
kila: I was never good at concentrating on my work so IM was OK for me. I even liked being able to talk to people when I felt like it. I decided to go offline to see what the consequences are, without having a good enough “reason” for it. For now I don’t miss it as much as I thought I would.
And kila… you’re far far from being a סוציומט
